History of Mussoorie

History of Mussoorie goes back to the conquest of the Dehra and the Garhwal in the year 1803 under Umer Singh Thapa by the Gurkhas. It was after this incident that Mussoorie came into being. The expansionist policies of Umer Singh Thapa began to clash with the policies of the British and thus, an inevitable war broke out in Dehradun and it was eventually evacuated by the Gurkhas in the year 1815. It was then annexed to the Saharanpur district by the British in the year 1919. Eventually, Mussoorie was established as a hill station at the site in the year 1823. Lt.
