History of Omkareshwar

The middle-aged period of Mandhata Omkareshwar had been under the rule of Bhil Chieftains, Parmars of Dhar, Malwa Sultans and the Scindia of Gwalior. All these rulers passed over the rule of Omkareshwar to the last ruler of Bhil named Natthu Bhil.

A prominent ruler Bharatsingh Chauhan got married to the daughter of Natthu Bill and since then Omkareshwar was ruled by the successors of Omkareshwar and with the arrival of the British, the Rajas got Mandhata Omkareshwar as the rights of their Jagirs but all of it has been abolished now.
