History of Goa

Goa is India’s smallest state and is located on the western coast of India. It has a powerful historical background. Being major trading centers in India, it attracted many merchants, dynasties, monks, seafarers. Gradually with the rapid development and transformation in culture and economy, Goa has left an indelible mark.

In 1510, Portuguese had a dominant control over the state and many buildings of the city resemble their architectural style. The Portuguese had constructed many churches and forts during their rule over the state. In the late 18th century, Marathas took over the Portuguese. When Indian Army entered in Goa, the Portuguese administration ended in 1961.

Goa was declared as the 25th state of India officially by Mr. Rajeev Gandhi in 1987. Konkani, the local language of Goa became one of the regional languages of India. Presently, Goa is known for highest per person incomes with tourism, fishing, farming, and iron ore mining in India.

  3. Rafting at Valpoi River – This adventure begins at 9:30 am or 2:30 at the rafting meeting in Valpoi River. You are then taken by the vehicles and given the safety equipment along with the guides, after the briefing and getting on to the rafts, the 10km trip starts.
