History of Lonavala
The history of the city of Lonavala can be traced back to the dynasty of Yadavas. The Yadavas were taken over by the Mughals and they started their rule in the city after they realized how important the place is for them strategically. Later, the Mughals were followed by the Peshwas and the Marathas.
Many forts were built by them which are a vital part of the empire. Much later in 1871, with the arrival of the British, they overpowered the existing rulers of Lonavala and captured over it. It was the time when it became one of the important hill stations of Maharashtra.
