History of Dhanaulti

Pre-Independence period, Dhanaulti was a part of Tehri Garhwal regions. This region was a princely state which was ruled by the King Sudarshan Shah who founded & built the Tehri capital. The King Sudarshan dynasty ruled Tehri from 1815 to 1949. People also participated in the freedom of the Tehri region which was a part of the Quit India movement. The district was merged with the Uttar Pradesh state post-independence period. Later was also separated from Uttar Pradesh in the year 2000.
